Dead, slow sand
Fall from above
Red, right hands
Tied in cuffs
Essence bound in forgery
Corona-crowned, mad ovaries
Potential kings
Are seized in here
In forward thrust
In cyclic rape
Demiurge lust
Obsessive drape
Sad existence parallel
With every toll on demon bells
Insane embrace
To crush dead space
“Hear me now!
I know
That time is no prison
I made a vow
To prove
That clocks have no rhythm
In my cradle
Before this mess
I saw beyond it
I learned to express
The inner works
Of all in this room”
The wheel has no limits
The wheel has no end
We’re all trapped within it
We have to transcend
Its forceful enslavement
Of fireborn souls
Before our flames
Are swallowed whole
Ancient mist
Blinding gloom
An iron fist
Forced through the womb
Pleasantries are but a myth
Once you sail upon this ship
Obey or fall
Within these walls
“Hear me now!
You know
That life is no prison
Make a vow
And learn
That death is no schism
In your cradle
Before this stress
You knew the way
To manifest
The inner world
Of lifes sacred tomb”
The wheel has no limits
The wheel has no end
I’m trapped within it
I have to transcend
Its forceful enslavement
Of all I hold dear
And break
Its grinding gears
“Do you know
What to do?
Can you tell
What you need?
Have you learned
To push through?
And run from graves”
I despise
All you are
All these lies
And the stars
The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sachavonkarl74
I never jumped on the train in 2020, even though I should have based on what Afsky brings to the table (that characteristic Danish BM combination of melancholy and triumph), but I came across it again now and have seen the light. This is a lot less epic and urgent-sounding than most comparable Scandinavian works if you take it song by song, but that is the point: this is a mesmerising experience as an album, each minute building upon the previous, leading to a devastating overall impact.
