lyrics
Out of nothing
Comes the keys
To the house of mysteries
Out of silence
Comes the cries
That shall put an end to all lies
Transformation
Is the goal
To turn every diamond to coal
Endless hours
Spent alone
Has distilled my true will from the unknown
In visions
Will is born
In actions
New shapes take form
To go through wonders
To split the night in two
Into action
Dreams must go
When all friends have turned into foes
In true balance
Chaos dwells
Knowing that heaven is hell
Dedication
And nothing else
Must be at the core of every cell
Obscure powers
Can be yours
Once the birth of three eyes is endured
In visions
Will was born
In actions
New shapes took form
To bleed in silence
To learn to love with hate
To see in darkness
To kill to live
To shape and build your fate
The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sachavonkarl74
I never jumped on the train in 2020, even though I should have based on what Afsky brings to the table (that characteristic Danish BM combination of melancholy and triumph), but I came across it again now and have seen the light. This is a lot less epic and urgent-sounding than most comparable Scandinavian works if you take it song by song, but that is the point: this is a mesmerising experience as an album, each minute building upon the previous, leading to a devastating overall impact.
